There are three main things I always like to remind my clients about:
- All feedback is good feedback, even when it’s not what you want to hear (sometimes unexpected negative feedback is the best advice in disguise)
- Your customers, staff and suppliers are the best advisors you will ever have
- When you take feedback and constructive criticism on board, you are growing and becoming more resilient; you are also saving yourself from the terror that is tunnel vision
Even if it’s uncomfortable to hear, here are some examples of how feedback can help you and your business:
- Customer feedback: it can guide you towards products you should sell, and steer you away from ones that might be a risky investment
- Team feedback: you can find better ways of working, that will make you and your team more productive
- Supplier and warehouse feedback: your partners could work more efficiently if you ask about and support alternative ways of working that could better suit them
Whilst negative feedback might be hard to hear, when you ask for it, review, listen and implement changes, you and your business will grow and be better able to serve your customers.
Also, if you are looking to build a business that is inclusive and fosters creativity from your team, it’s imperative that you listen to them and take their advice and constructive criticism on board.
So, however you choose to receive the feedback, whether it’s via Trustpilot, Feefo or just a good old Google Form, know that it’s all going to help you in some way.
